Calling AU-EU Champions
The AU-EU Champions project, a joint initiative of the African Union and the European Union, aims to enhance the positive impact of European Union policies, programmes and projects in Africa through the lenses of African TikTokers, Instagrammers, YouTubers, vloggers and podcasters.
CASE STUDY: AU-EU Champions – Visual Identity for a Continent-Wide Youth Campaign
Challenge
Originally brought in to design a flyer for sourcing young influencers across Africa, our role quickly expanded. The AU-EU Champions initiative aimed to highlight youth voices and raise awareness around EU-supported projects across Africa. What started as a single digital asset turned into a full branding and digital rollout—but the process was anything but smooth. Shifting timelines, fragmented planning, and scattered coordination were recurring challenges.
Approach
We delivered a bold and energetic visual identity tailored to resonate with young, socially engaged audiences. The branding system was adapted across social channels and applied to a multilingual, content-rich website representing regional campaigns from across the continent. Each country showcased a different initiative, requiring a flexible structure and localized storytelling—while maintaining visual consistency and clarity.
Key Features Delivered
- Full branding and logo design
- Multilingual website design (continent-wide scope)
- Social media assets for cross-platform use
- Campaign materials tailored to youth influencers
- Dynamic visuals with high-color contrast and motion-driven layout
Results
The project succeeded in securing high-profile influencer engagement across several countries. The visuals were well-received by the client, and despite tight timelines and communication bottlenecks, the creative output became a key driver in launching the campaign. While the website and assets were unfortunately lost due to a hosting lapse, the campaign itself marked a milestone in the EU-AU youth dialogue.
Reflections
Working with delegations can be chaotic—but the trust I received and the recognition of the value delivered made this project deeply worthwhile. With minimal input windows, I was able to make a strong creative mark—and help a big idea find form.
